Filming the story of Newtown's involvement in the early development of Welsh football

Eatsleep Media are working on a project for the Welsh Football Association and came along to the Museum to film a couple of our exhibits which are part of our Summer Exhibition in 2024.  Check out the short promo video of our exhibition which they kindly produced for us.

French Film Company

It was a great pleasure to welcome Clara and Cedric of French TV company ARTE to the museum . They were here to make a feature on Pryce Jones and his mail order empire. They spent all day here interviewing, recording the loom in action and filming items related to PJ - for a 7 minute segment! That’s showbusiness!!
Victoria came along to demonstrate the weaving process. The loom may be relatively modern, but weaving is as old as the hills. We look forward to seeing the final film in due course and will add a link to it.  So, brush up your French in the meantime.

Seen us on tv, heard us on the radio? We have featured in several shows but you may have missed them.

Radio 4 recording at Museum

Radio 4 visit

Stop Press:  The Hidden History of the Attic .

A great radio program where Rachel Hurdley discovers a part of the home full of memory, mystery and possession. On 23 April, the Textile Museum was one of the interesting segments of this fascinating story. Make sure you catch up with the radio programme on the link given, if you missed it at the time.

Cast and crew filming by a loom

Filming at the museum

in 2022 the Museum welcomed a film crew from S4C's 'Cynefin' programme. It is great that so many film crews have come to our museum over the last few years,   They filmed on the Loom Floor, and in the Draper's shop. They also featured our recreated 'Euklisia rug', the world's first sleeping bag patented by Pryce Jones for sale to the Russian army in 1865. Jane Beck made our replica, which is great to have at the Museum. This film is no longer available online.

You can watch an episode of Eisenbahnromantik (a German TV production about the Cambrian Line, but they also filmed at the Museum.

Check it out here.

Filming for TV show in museum

TV shows from 2021

In 2021 the Museum played host to a film crew from Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. It was a long day for the TV crew and for our Curator, John, and student Emily who were assisting, but the results are still available for you to see.  Unfortunately the Museum didn't get mentioned but our 'knocker-upper/fishing rod' did feature at the end. Check it out here.

We featured in an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.  It is episode 10 of Series 10. Stand-up comedian Zoe Lyons was joined by radio DJ Noreen Khan in this popular show. Sadly is it no longer available to view.

The Great British Sewing Bee segment about the Museum which went to air in May 2021 generated a lot of interest among our visitors, and this new TV program was the same. Check it out here
